The Highland Community College sophomore cross country runner Mary Kate Taylor (Chillicothe, Mo.) finished second at the Dave Burgess Open Meet held at Johnson County Community College on Saturday with a time of 19:46.9.
Taylor led the 12th ranked Scotties to a second place team finish with 45 total team points. Cowley College won the meet with 41 team points. Talisa Budder from Haskell Indian Nations University won the individual title with a time of 19:33.5.
The remainder of the scoring for the Scotties would come from a strong group of freshmen runners. Hannah Olsen (St. Joseph, Mo.) took sixth place in 21:05.4 and Mandy Wilson (Auburn) was right on her heels in eighth place in 21:13.0. Crystal Hoard (Randolph) finished in 12th place with a time of 21:37.9 and Raquel Dungey (Independence) took 17th place in 22:03.4.
The Scotties next run at the Region VI Championships on Saturday, October 27, at Johnson County Community College. The meet begins at 10:00 a.m.
