Aaron Arnold, head football coach at Highland Community College, will be welcoming new coaches for the new season as well as many new faces on the team. With the loss of both his head coordinators from last year, Arnold is turning both to familiar faces who will be in new roles and new faces beginning their collegiate coaching careers.
Judd Remmers is returning to the Scotties after being away and will start his fourth season on the Highland football staff and his 13th overall. Remmers is the Assistant Head Coach and in his first season as the Offensive Coordinator. He has held the titles of Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach and coached the secondary and linebackers in previous years.
Walter Vaughn returns to Highland as the Defensive Coordinator after spending a season as a graduate assistant for the Colorado State defensive coaching staff in 2015. While at CSU, Vaughn had the opportunity to coach two future NFL defensive linemen. Walter joined the Colorado State staff in the spring of 2015 after spending one season as the defensive line coach here at Highland Community College.
Payton Kirk returns for his third year on Highland’s staff and second season as Defensive Line Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Kirk coached the Scottie defensive line last season.
Maurice Gray enters his first season for the Scotties and will be coaching the defensive backs. In the 2015 season, Gray had five defensive backs go on to sign with four year schools, one of whom was an All-American.
The 2016 season will be Jarrett Stanton’s second with Highland. He will be coaching the wide receivers along with being the special teams coordinator. Last season, Stanton coached the running backs.
2016 will be Kyler Reed’s first season with Highland after playing at Nebraska, a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL, and for the Tri-Cities Fever of the IFL during the 2015 season. He will be bringing his coaching experience at the high school level to his new position with the Scotties.
