The Highland volleyball team snapped their losing streak on October 15 by clinching a win against Southeast Community College in three sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-14. The team started strong in the first set by never giving up the lead. In the second set, the Highland let Southeast jump out to a 5-1 lead, but fought back throughout the set to take the victory. In the third set, the Scotties did not back down as they allowed the Lady Storm to score only 14 points. The Scotties won the match with a convincing 15 blocks, the most they have had all season.
“This was a great match for the team. We have been working hard in practice to fine tune our defense and blocking footwork and tonight showed that hard work,” commented Coach Gaddis.
Lisa Malchow (Cambridge, NE) had a standout night with five kills off eight attempts (.625) with four solo blocks and a blocking assist. McKayla Brezina (Seneca) added nine kills with two solo blocks and three blocking assists.
The Scotties will face Labette in Parsons on Wednesday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m.
