The Scottie softball squad continued its conference and district dominance as it swept through the Division II District E championship in Topeka over the weekend, winning both games on Saturday and needing only one game on Sunday to be crowned the champs and go to the National Tournament for the fifth straight year under head coach Heidi Jordan and assistant Scott Jordan.
On Saturday, Highland defeated Kansas City Kansas Community College in the first game and then sent Independence Community College to the losers’ bracket in game two. Indy worked their way back to the Championship Game by winning Sunday morning, but the Scotties ended their season with a 6-3 triumph to claim the crown and return to Mississippi for the National Tournament, to be held the week of May 12.
