Coming off an outstanding freshman season, there are high expectations this season for Kahlil Render, the quarterback of the Highland Community College football team. Render immediately lived up to those expectations in the opening game of the 2016 season as he was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Scotties to a 26-16 victory over fellow Conference member Dodge City, which was ranked number eight in the country coming into the game. Render, a sophomore from Homestead, FL, had 249 total yards in Saturday evening’s game, with a rushing touchdown and three through the air.
