Members of the Highland Community College women’s track team traveled to Manhattan for the NJCAA Region VI Indoor Meet held at Kansas State University on Sunday. Chelsea Gabriel (Grain Valley, MO) qualified for Nationals with a time of 9.08 in the 60 meter hurdles, which placed her fourth in the Jayhawk Conference and secured her trip to the National Meet. Teammate Taylor Smith-Brown (Highland) high jumped 1.51m to earn All-Conference honors.
In addition, Jennifer Hall (Carbondale), Kalli Morland (Louisburg), and Syvannah Williams (Leavenworth) earned Academic All-American announced by the National Coaches Association for the 2014 cross country season. Morland and Williams also earned KJCCC All Academic.
Gabriel will travel to Albuquerque, NM, on March 5-7 for the NJCAA Indoor Championships held at the Albuquerque Convention Center. The rest of the team will train for the upcoming outdoor season. The first outdoor meet for the Scotties will be on March 28 at Emporia State University.
