Highland Students Attend Theatre Conference
Two Highland Community College students joined theatre instructor Sam Smith to attend the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region 5 in Lincoln, NE from January 19-25. Students Sami Berry, a sophomore from Falls City, NE, and Jessica Lewis, a sophomore from Hiawatha traveled to Lincoln with Smith to take advantage of the myriad of theatre-related workshops and also to audition for the Irene Ryan scholarships. While they were unsuccessful in getting a scholarship, they both appreciated the opportunity to audition and the experiences in the workshops which ranged from acting to makeup to costuming to set design. They also had the opportunity to attend theatre performances, some of which were student written and directed, as well as acted.
