The Highland Community College football team has earned their first-ever Region VI playoff appearance after soundly defeating the Independence Pirates 56-30 on Saturday afternoon.
The Scotties, 6-3 overall and 5-2 in Jayhawk Conference play, are the fourth seed and will travel to the top-seeded team, the #8 nationally ranked Butler Grizzlies, on Sunday, November 3 for a 1:30 p.m. kick-off. The Grizzlies lone loss on the season came at the hands of the Scotties by the final of 23-21 on September 21. Butler defeated Hutchinson on Saturday night by the final of 19-16 in six overtimes.
