The Highland Community College women’s basketball team opened the 2013-14 season with two wins in the Bill and Annie Mueller Classic this past weekend, beating Doane, Nebraska 90-39 on Friday and Iowa Lakes 92-39 on Saturday.
The Scotties, currently ranked #8 in the country, have only three returners from last year’s 30-6 season that saw them win the Region VI Championship, finishing fifth in the country, so there were lots of new faces on the floor in Allen Fieldhouse. “We are working to figure out what our best rotations are, as well as what our lineups will be, so we are very much a work in progress,” stated head coach BJ Smith.
The Highland women will be back on the floor Tuesday night at 7:00 pm as they host the University of St. Mary in Allen Fieldhouse.
