The Kansas Council of Deans and Directors of Continuing Education met at the HCC Wamego Center Sept. 28-29. Thirty members and guests were in attendance, representing 12 community colleges and four state agencies.

Thursday, following lunch and the business meeting, council members presented Best Practices. Ending the day, the group toured HCC’s Viticulture and Enology program and enjoyed visiting 456 Wineries.

Friday, Mike Gibson with Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kansas spoke to the group about how the construction industry is partnering with education to launch CTE/vocational programming to support Kansas’ economic development efforts. The meeting concluded with a presentation from Karla Wiscombe, Tara LeBar and Samantha Christy-Dangermond with the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR). They gave an overview of KBOR, Academic Affairs Areas of Responsibilities and updates on Dual Credit, HLC Faculty Qualifications, the Systemwide General Education Package, Open Educational Resources and Apply Kansas.
