For the last two years, Kim Bechtold, the Transfer Advisor for the Student Support Services program at Highland Community College, has sought support from the Walmart Foundation for activities conducted by the program. And she has been successful. She recently received notice that, “The Walmart Foundation and your local Walmart facility are pleased to inform you that your organization has been selected to receive a grant through the Local Facility Giving Program in the amount of $500.00. We believe that your organization is doing important work to the communities you serve, and we are proud that we are able to support you in your efforts.” Bechtold noted that the Walmart funds provide support for activities that otherwise would not occur.
