Must have the ability to use college-identified computer hardware and software and other technology as provided.

Highland Community College has an opening for a full-time diesel instructor at the HCC Technical Center in Atchison, Kansas. Position is full-time with benefits and would begin August, 2019.

This position will prepare students for gainful employment in various positions in the diesel technology industry. Instruct students in proper use of hand tools used in the repair of diesel engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, and suspension/brakes. Teach students how to operate equipment used in the diagnosis and repair of diesel technology. As many of the duties involve supervising groups of students without benefit of additional help or administrative supervision, the job requires significant self-discipline, internal motivation, and sound judgment.

Primary Responsibilities include:

-Oversee safe and orderly classrooms;
-Teach troubleshooting and repair of diesel fuel systems, tune-up, electrical system, safety rules, etc.;
-Provide instruction in customer relations;
-Supervise class and shop organization;
-Assure that shop meets all safety regulations;
-Assist with development of automotive curriculum
-Other duties as assigned.

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
