The Acoustic Tradition to Perform at Klinefelter Barn
Arts at the Barn, a new performance series at the Klinefelter Barn of Highland Community College, announces its second concert presentation on Saturday, May 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This performance will feature The Acoustic Tradition, a three piece acoustic group from Nebraska. During intermission the audience will receive a special treat of a short magic show performed by Dave Nielson.
According to Roger Roberts, band leader for The Acoustic Tradition, “We are impossible to pigeon-hole regarding the music we make, except that it's acoustic music only. There will be no accidental electrocutions for this bunch unless somebody drops a mic cord in the water jug at a gig! Our set lists include a little old-time, some folk numbers, a smattering of cowboy songs, a few bluegrass-like tunes, ballads, story songs, love songs, gospel, 50's and 60's acoustic rock, "real" country tunes, as well as instrumental-only things. Our song presentations are performed in solo voice as well as in two, three, and, occasionally, four part harmonies.”
Due to limited seating, $7.50 per person admission will be sold in advance by calling the HCC business office at 785-442-6006. Call-in purchases are by credit or debit card only. You may also pay by cash or check by going to the Business Office in person at 6006 W. Main in Highland. Seating will be available only at the door the night of the performance if unsold seats are still available. Reserved seating is available only for Arts at the Barn underwriters who have helped make this series possible. All other seating is on a first come-first served basis.
The Klinefelter Barn Conference Center is located at 1774 230th St., Hiawatha, KS. Take the Mulberry Rd. exit off US 36 Highway, two miles east of Hiawatha and go east on 230th for 2/3 mile to the farm entrances. Either driveway leads to the Klinefelter Barn.
