The Highland Community College volleyball team took second place Saturday in the Graceland University JV/Community College Invitational. The Scotties defeated the Graceland Jackets and Central Iowa JV in pool play to advance to the Gold bracket. There they faced the Graceland Yellow Jackets, taking them in three sets. The Scotties then played Dordt College JV in the championship match. After taking Dordt easily in the first set, 25-18, the Scotties lost the second set 18-25, and in a close battle, the third and deciding set 14-16.
Kelsee Wright (Topeka) and Erica Rottinghaus (Seneca) were named to the All-Tournament team, and the team took home the second place plaque.
Highland returns home this Wednesday, September 5, against Kansas City Kansas Community College for their first home conference match at 5:30 pm in Allen Field House.
