Head coach Ryan Held has announced that nine members of the Highland Community College football squad have signed offers from Division I NCAA universities in the early signing period. In addition to these nine, several more players are still considering DI offers and also from Division II universities. Those signing during the early signing period are:
Glen Antoine – DT – Idaho
Brennan Boland – TE – Ohio
Tyrell Curry – DB – Eastern Kentucky
Justin Dickey – TE – Central Arkansas
Joe Keels – DE – Nebraska
Pat Martin – DB – Middle Tennessee State
Contereze Pierce – DB – Sam Houston State
Marcus Smith – DT – Texas Tech
Jeff Travillion –OL – Idaho
As the Scotties continue to improve under Held – they were 6-4 this year and made the Jayhawk Conference Playoffs for the first time – they will attract additional attention from DI institutions. It is interesting to note that the roster of the number one DI team in the country – Auburn – includes Highland alum Brandon King, a defensive back whose number is 29, and fellow Jayhawk alums from Garden City and Hutchinson.
