Administrative Assistant and Medical Office Assistant students from Highland Community College Technical Center (HCCTC) will be attending the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2014 National Leadership Conference, “Accelerate Your Future,” in Indianapolis, IN, April 30-May 4, 2014.
HCCTC chapter advisor Carrie Miller and student members McKenna Boller (Horton), Cheyenne Brown (Horton), Marissa Dexter (Horton), Heather Lowe (Muscotah), and Loagan Rodvelt (Horton) attended the State Leadership Conference in Wichita and competed in various business events to earn a spot to compete at the national level. HCCTC students placed in: Administrative Support Team 1st Place (Rodvelt, Boller, Lowe, Brown); Banking & Finance 1st (Lowe); Keyboarding Production 1st (Boller); Prepared Speech 1st (Brown); Fundamental Spreadsheet 1st (Lowe); Basic Office Procedures 1st (Rodvelt); Fundamental Word Processing 1st (Rodvelt), 2nd (Dexter); Medical Office Procedures 1st (Dexter); Interview Skills 1st (Dexter). Loagan Rodvelt and Heather Lowe also achieved Statesmanship awards.
BPA is a national organization for high school & college students preparing for careers in business and information technology. BPA is contributing to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
Advisor Carrie Miller noted that, “I am very proud of these five girls. To advance to the next level of competition is a huge accomplishment.”
