The Yost Art Gallery is hosting “Made in Kansas,” an exhibition by Emporia print maker Stephanie Alaniz Sept. 14 to Oct. 23. The show is free and open to the public.
“We are excited to have Stephanie share their work with us at Highland,” said Brigitte Bruna, Highland Community College Art Instructor. “…an artist who utilizes multiple media in their work inspires our students to see what all can be created with materials in various ways. Their unique voice will enrich our campus.”
Alaniz received a Bachelor of Fine Art from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi in 2016, a Master of Fine Art from West Virginia University in 2019 and has shown all over the world including Egypt, France and Nepal. Alaniz teaches at Emporia State University.
Yost Gallery is named for Walter Yost, accomplished artist and teacher at Highland Community College who also served as the chairman of the Art Department until his retirement in 1977. Yost believed in educating people and helping them to see and appreciate the artistry in their environment.
The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday with no admission fee. It can be found on the Highland Community College campus, 606 W. Main Street, Highland, Kansas, 66035. in the Jack D. Nutt Math Science Building.
