Painting of the pleins at sunset

Betty Jean Billups

Betty Jean Billup’s plein air paintings capture the essence of a scene with loose and sweeping brushstrokes.  Billup showcases her ability to enhance the natural beauty of the outdoors through color, aiming to capture the light and the mood of the landscape in her works.

Caitlin Penny

Caitlin Penny is a relief printmaker primarily working in the reduction printmaking technique, in order to explore environmental and animal conservation issues. Unlike other forms of printmaking, reduction relief ultimately destroys the plate. This closely mirrors the fragile existence of the landscapes and animals depicted in Penny’s work. For once the final print is pulled, the plate is used up and discarded, effectively becoming extinct.
