About Winter Session

Who Can Enroll?

  • Currently enrolled HCC students can enroll (until the day before classes begin).
  • New students are welcome to apply for admission to Highland. Applications are due by December 6. 


When Can I Register for Classes? 

Registration to enroll in classes opens October 14. 

Why Should I take Intersession Courses? 

  • Online-only format, featuring a curated selection of condensed courses
  • Catch up on core curriculum and gen. ed. requirements
  • Take courses that will transfer* to a 4-year college
  • Learn from anywhere with convenient, fully online classes
  • Get ahead before the spring semester beings

How Many Credits Can I Take? 

Students can take a max of 6 credits.

How to Enroll & FAQs

Students self-enroll in winter intersession courses. Students can enroll up to 6 credits total. If you need help with enrolling, you can check our tutorial here or contact advising.

How to Register for Class

How to Drop a Class

All drops should be completed in Self-Service. If you have questions about dropping a class, you will need to email the Registrar. The registrar's office will be closed during winter intersession but they will contact you when they return from break.  

Financial aid is possible for all students enrolling in the winter intersession courses, if they qualify. It is treated the same as any other semester for students. They must apply and be eligible for financial aid in order to be able to use aid for those courses.

More About Financial Aid

Technically all Highland Community College locations are closed from December 21-January 1. Specific staff have been assigned to monitor winter intersession so if you have questions during the semester, please don't hesitate to reach out. Questions can be emailed to HCC Online

The courses offered during Winter Intersession do not require pre-requisites.
