Programs range from health sciences, early childhood education, and business technology to precision agriculture, welding, electrical technology, and diesel mechanics. Many programs are designed for completion in one year or less, allowing you to enter the workforce quickly while earning stackable credentials that can also apply toward an associate degree.
Admission to HCC’s technical programs is open to students who meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Online Application for Admission
- Submission of official high school transcript or GED documentation
- Placement testing or submission of ACT/SAT scores (as required by program)
- Completion of any program-specific requirements (some programs, such as nursing, may
have selective admission criteria)
Once admitted, you’ll work with a program advisor to review your goals, assess placement needs, and register for classes. Many programs also include industry certifications or internships, giving you the opportunity to gain professional experience before graduation.
Every technical program at Highland is developed with direct input from industry partners to ensure our curriculum aligns with current workforce needs. You’ll learn using state-of-the-art equipment, modern labs, and real-world applications that prepare you to excel in your chosen field.
Students benefit from small class sizes and one-on-one instruction, ensuring personalized attention and strong mentorship. Upon completion, graduates are well prepared to enter high-demand fields or continue their education in related degree programs.
Technical students at HCC have access to the full range of college resources, including academic advising, tutoring, career services, and counseling. Our career services team helps you develop your résumé, practice interview skills, and connect with local employers through job fairs and industry partnerships.
We also offer flexible scheduling options, including day, evening, and hybrid courses, to accommodate working students and those balancing family commitments.
Highland Community College provides an affordable path to career readiness. Technical students are eligible for federal and state financial aid by completing the FAFSA using Highland’s school code: 001921.
In addition, HCC offers scholarships for technical and career program students, as well as payment plan options to help manage tuition and fees. Many Kansas employers also partner with Highland to offer tuition reimbursement or sponsorship opportunities for employees pursuing certification or degree completion.
