PDCA Project Form

PDCA Planning Forms are due no later than September 15 for Fall Projects or January 31 for Spring Projects. Your plan is submitted via the electronic form linked below. If you have trouble accessing the form, please contact the VPAA. Be sure you are following these steps exactly:

Start thinking about what idea you plan to test. Here is a planning worksheet to help you prepare to submit the electronic form.

Once you have decided what you PLAN to test, what you will DO to test your idea, and how you will CHECK whether your idea was successful or not then click on the link below from your Highland computer or mobile email app.

Answer the questions. You must complete this electronic form in one sitting. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO SAVE IT AND COME BACK.

This project fulfills the Professional Development Plan per the Master Contract. "Each professional employee will submit a “Plan, Do, Check, Act” (PDCA) Project Form during the fall or during the spring term. Fall PDCA results are due no later than the Monday after fall final exam week, while spring results are due no later than the Monday after spring final exam week. Nursing Program faculty will submit PDCA forms based on the terms within the program schedule. PDCA results are reviewed by the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the President." (Master Contract - IX.B)

PDCA Projects allow an instructor to test an idea, innovation, or teaching strategy in one or more classes and make improvements accordingly, before deciding whether the idea should be adopted across the board. The Plan–Do–Check–Act Procedure involves these steps:

  • Plan: Recognize an opportunity and plan a change.
  • Do: Test the change.
  • Check: Review what you did, analyze the results, and identify what you’ve learned.
  • Act: Take action based on what you learned. If the change did not work, consider alternate modifications and test this new plan with a future PDCA Project. If you were successful, incorporate what you learned from the test into wider changes. Use what you learned to plan new improvements and identify your next idea to test.
