Jumpstart Your Education Early - Tuition & Fees Are Only $65 per credit hour
Highland Community College’s Early College Program gives high school students a head start on college by offering dual and concurrent credit courses taught right in their school. These classes match the content and quality of HCC’s on-campus and online courses, meet Kansas Board of Regents standards, and transfer to most Kansas colleges.
Why Should You Consider Early College?
Taking college classes while still in the high school setting is a great opportunity for high school students to get a head start on the college experience. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to take classes!
Students who choose the Early College program:
- learn first-hand the demands of going to college
- experience the process of enrolling in college classes
- understand the costs associated with college tuition, fees, and textbooks
- ease the transition from high school to college
- provides academic enrichment to students who are ready for the challenge of college coursework
Participation in the program exposes students and their families to valuable lessons
that will support their remaining college careers. Students who choose college while
in high school make considerable progress toward their college education if the appropriate
time and focus are given to their studies.
Step 1: Apply for Admission to HCC
New High School Students
Once you've applied, you will receive an acceptance email with important information about enrollment. If you have already taken classes with Highland Community College within the last year, skip to Step 2: Enrollment. There is no need to apply more than once.
MyHCC Login
You will receive a separate email with your log-in information and directions to your HCC Account and HCC email account. All coorespondence with HCC must be through this email account so it's important for you to check frequently.
Step 2: Enrollment Process
English & Math classes require you to meet a prerequisite. If you need to meet a prerequisite, send your transcripts, test scores, etc. to earlycollege@highlandcc.edu. Your counselor will also assist you with this.
If you need to meet a prerequisite and do not have sufficient ACT, Accuplacer, or Asset test scores, schedule a placement test with Highland Community College.
After you know which classes you'd like to enroll in, log into your MyHCC account and add the courses to your schedule. You can schedule an advising appointment with our Early College Advisor, Gentry Howell.

Handbooks and Policies
These handbooks are prepared as supplements to the adopted HCC Board of Trustees Policy Handbook. They are intended to provide basic information regarding the college and its many areas of operations and policies. These policies have been established over time and do reflect changes continually taking place at the college.

Transfer
These transfer guides have been developed to assist HCC students in making the smoothest possible transition to other institutions of higher learning. In transferring, nothing will substitute for sound planning. Students should consult closely with their advisor and the college they are transferring to ensure they enroll in courses that transfer.
