Hazing Prevention and Response

Highland Community College is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful campus community in accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act (SCHA), enacted on December 23, 2024. Hazing in any form is strictly prohibited. No student should ever feel pressured to participate in activities that could harm their physical or mental well-being.

Hazing includes any action expected of someone joining or participating in a group that humiliates, degrades, abuses, or endangers them—regardless of their willingness to participate. Hazing can occur in student organizations, athletic teams, clubs, or informal groups.

We encourage all members of our campus community to help prevent hazing by speaking up and reporting concerns.

Report Hazing

If you experience, witness, or suspect hazing, please report it through our online reporting form (link below), the Office of Student Conduct, Campus Safety, or a trusted faculty or staff member.

Together, we can build traditions that promote respect, inclusion, and positive student experiences.

Reports of hazing, regardless of whether a violation of policy is determined, will be referred for consideration in the Annual Safety Report, provided the incident is within jurisdiction.
