Academic Department Awards

Institutional scholarships and awards are primarily reserved for Kansas students attending classes on the main campus in Highland. Students attending the technical center and living on campus or with parents/guardians in Doniphan County are also eligible for institutional awards. Scholarships are not valid for online classes, whether or not a student is living on campus.

Athletic Awards

Athletic Scholarships pay for books and tuition and are renewable each semester provided the student-athlete meets all GPA and participation requirements set forth by the Kansas Junior College Athletic Association, HCC, and the coach.

   • Minimum 2.0 GPA each semester
   • Meets all requirements set forth by the instructor

HCC Foundation Awards

The HCC Foundation Scholarship is designed to recognize and reward students who have excellent academic and personal accomplishments. This prestigious award pays for Kansas tuition, fees, book rental, and campus housing.

   • Minimum of a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale
   • Minimum 22 composite ACT score

Technical Center Awards

Students enrolling at the Technical Center have two attendance options:

  1. HCC Technical Center Attendance- Enroll in a full-time technical program at HCC’s Technical Center in Atchison and successfully complete a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester on the Technical Center campus in Atchison. Live with a parent or guardian in Doniphan County or on HCC’s Main Campus in Highland. Complete WorkKeys testing and meet program minimum requirement.

  2. HCC Technical Center and Highland Main Campus Attendance- Enroll part-time in a technical program at HCC’s Technical Center in Atchison and part time in general education classes on HCC’s Main Campus in Highland and successfully complete a minimum of twelve credit hours each semester. Live with a parent or guardian in Doniphan County or on HCC’s Main Campus in Highland. Complete WorkKeys testing and meet the program’s minimum requirement.

Tech Center Students who are full-time at the Tech Center or part-time at the Tech Center and part-time on the Highland campus may receive $1000 per semester in scholarship money.

Regional Scholarship

Up to ten, $500 scholarships may be awarded each year to students attending the regional campus centers. Students must enroll in at least six credit hours at a Regional Center to qualify.

Regional Scholarship Eligibility

  • Must be a Kansas resident
  • Must have completed 12 hours of HCC coursework from a Regional Center with an overall GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be degree seeking with Highland Community College.
  • Scholarship is available for the fall and spring semesters only (not summer).
  • Scholarships may not be used for HCC online or concurrent classes at a high school.

 

TO APPLY

Students should print off the Teacher Recommendation Form and deliver to the teacher of their choosing that will serve as a reference.  You should also provide them an envelope with your name printed on the front.  Return the sealed recommendation envelope with the teacher’s signature across the back flap and include with your application.
 
 Type your name at the top right hand corner of your page and the regional center which you attend. Provide questions and answers on the same page.
·         Answer the following 3 questions (EACH question should be answered with approximately 150 words).
1.    Explain the importance of your major or area of interest in our society.
2.    Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart.
3.    State any personal or family circumstances affecting your need for this scholarship.
 
 Your recommendation and application should be taken to your Regional Director by May 15th.  Award recipients will be notified by June 15thIf you have questions concerning this scholarship, please consult with your Regional Center Director.

2/130th Field Artillery Battalion Scholarship

Members of the 2/130th Field Artillery Battalion may receive $500 in scholarship monies for part time attendance at the Highland campus or $1000 for full time attendance at the Highland campus. The scholarship is not valid for attendance online or at one of the regional centers. 

2/130th Field Artillery Battalion Scholarship Eligibility

  • Must be a Kansas resident
  • Must be enrolled full time (14 or more hours) or part time (6 or more hours) on the Highland Campus
  • Must complete a minimum of 12 hours (full time) or 6 hours (part time) on campus hours with a 2.5 GPA.
  • Scholarship is available for the fall and spring semesters only (not summer).
  • Scholarshipo cannot be combined with an academic department or athletic scholarship at HCC.
  • Must be a member in good standing of the FA Battalion

Affiliated Foods Corporate Scholarship

If you are a dependent of an employee at an Affiliated Foods corporate facility (headquarters, warehouse), contact Amy Lackey in the Financial Aid office at the College.  She will take your information for veriification by Affiliated Foods.  Once verified, an Affiliated Foods scholarship will be applied to your account.  The amount of the award varies each year.
