Business Technology, Computer Support Technology and Engineering Graphics and Technologies students from Highland Community College Technical Center (HCCTC) attended the Business Professionals of America (BPA) State Leadership Conference Feb. 14-17 in Wichita. HCCTC Chapter members who attended were: Ashley GrandPre (Valley Falls), Emma Ramirez (Atchison), Teagan Sharp (Horton), Megan Larson (Effingham) and Carrie Miller, Advisor/Business Instructor.

Students tested their knowledge in many different business and technology related areas. Student placings include: Legal Office Procedures 1st (Larson); Intermediate Word Processing 1st (Sharp); Advanced Interview Skills 1st (Larson); Fundamentals of Web Design 1st (Ramirez); Computer Network Technology 1st (Ramirez) Top Ten - Open Events: Computer Programming Concepts (Ramirez); Digital Communication and Design Concepts (GrandPre, Ramirez); Health Administration Concepts (Larson); Parliamentary Procedure Concepts (GrandPre); Project Management Concepts (GrandPre, Larson, Ramirez & Sharp).

 

Students who placed in their events will travel to Chicago to attend BPA’s National Leadership Conference, “Seize the Opportunity”, May 10-14. They will join thousands of students from across the nation to participate in national level business and technology skills competitions.

 

Business Professionals of America is an innovator in Career and Technical Education, providing members with opportunities for growth through education, competition, community service and personal development. With 45,000 members in over 1,800 chapters across 25 states and Puerto Rico, BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards.
