HCC Students Join PTK All-Kansas Academic Team

Alpha Zeta Gamma, Highland Community College's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, has named Rayne Berkhalter (Atchison) and Meg McCallum (Belmont, Ontario, Canada) to the All-Kansas Academic Team for 2024.
Berkhalter and McCallum will be honored in Junction City April 12, 2024. Kansas is one of 39 states participating in the All-State Academic Team program.
The state academic teams are a division of the All-USA Community College Academic Team. The All-USA Academic Team recognizes academic achievement, leadership, and community service among the top community college students. The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK), the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees (KACCT), and the presidents of the state's community colleges sponsor the All-Kansas Academic Team. Students were nominated by their respective college and are now eligible for the All-USA Academic Team.
Rayne Berkhalter is pursuing an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Highland Community College. Rayne is the daughter of Randle and Stephanie Berkhalter. After Highland, she plans to transfer to McPerson College to study biology and play volleyball. At HCC, she is a resident assistant (RA), Scottie Ambassador for the admissions office, an academic tutor and is a member of the Alpha Zeta Gamma chapter of PTK.
Meg McCallum is pursuing an Associate of Science (AS) degree from Highland Community College. Meg is the daughter of Mark and Nicole McCallum. After Highland, she plans to transfer to University of Rio Grande Ohio to major in exercise science and play softball. At HCC, she is an RA, academic tutor for Student Support Services (SSS), a member of the softball team and member of the Alpha Zeta Gamma chapter of PTK.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the national honor society of the two-year college. Students must have at least a 3.5 GPA or better to be accepted to the organization. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students.
