Highland Community College will host the 38th Annual Northeast Kansas All-Star Basketball Games Sunday, March 24. The women will tip off at 1:00 p.m. The men tip off at 3:00 p.m. Both contests will be at Ben Allen Field House, located on the campus of Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas.

High school seniors from northeast Kansas high schools have been invited to participate. The players have been divided into two teams: gold team and navy team.

Suiting up for the women’s gold team is Malaina Whetstine, Doniphan West; Dawson Cochren, Jackson Heights; Bethany Urban, Maur Hill-Mount Academy; Taylor Weishaar, Riverside; Alexis Dalinghaus, Frankfort; Sydney Wapp, Frankfort; Abigail Laird, Jefferson County North; Tana Stowell, Frankfort; Shea Wurtz, Clifton-Clyde; and Kaylee Sandmann, Axtell. The gold team will be led by head coach Brian Ebert and assistant coach Vicki Adams both from Frankfort High School.

Representing the women’s navy team, under the guidance of head coach Craig Burnes, assistant coach Holly Dodson, and assistant coach Bruce Starks all from Riverside High School, is Korie Kirkwood, Valley Falls; Rileigh Cox, Maur Hill-Mount Academy; Halle Studer, Riverside; Hattie Gros, Frankfort; Emily Langley, Jefferson County North; Clara Johnson, Jefferson County North; Maggie Toerber, Valley Heights; Makayla Boyd, Oskaloosa; Taylor Damme, Perry-Lecompton; Abby O’Grady, Riverside; Emma Hardwick, Frankfort; and Alexis Messalle, Oskaloosa.

The roster for the men’s gold team is filled by Abe Hilbert, Nemaha Central; Christian McAfee, Sabetha; Calvin Manville, Jefferson County North; Marcus Bauman, Sabetha; Paxton Bowers, Centralia; Jeter Purdy, Atchison; Trey Carter, Atchison; Carson McAfee, Jefferson County North; Conner Keirns, Jefferson County North; James Schuetz, ACCHS; Reese Tanking, Centralia; and Zac Evans, Valley Falls. The men’s gold team is coached by head coach Cory Noll and assistant coach Jeff Schneider both from Jefferson County North High School.

The men’s navy team is comprised of Percy Duncan, Riverside; Brett Graber, Lansing; Dakota Krause, Blue Valley; Cooper Wischopp, Horton; Kaden Morton, Hiawatha; Joey Henderson, Concordia; Weston Schultejohns, Jackson Heights; Cooper Jacobsen, Hiawatha; Bohdan Korbelik, Maur Hill-Mount Academy; Payton Breese, Concordia; Seth Judd, Troy; Gannon Becker, Horton; and Christian Etherton, Troy. The men’s navy team is coached by Jonathan Rodvelt, Troy High School head coach, and David Losey, Horton High School head coach.

Officials for both games will be John Stous, Aaron Hund and Reid Greaser.

The NEK All-Star Volleyball Game will be played the day before the basketball games on Saturday, March 23 at Ben Allen Field House. Play begins at 1:00 p.m.

Highland Community College invites fans to celebrate northeast Kansas athletes at the 38th Annual NEK All-Star Games. Admission is $5 per person, including students. All games will be broadcast on KNZA 103.9 FM, KMZA 92.1 FM and KAIR 93.7 FM.
