Scotties Roll Vikings 111-58
The Highland Community College men’s basketball team cruised to an easy home opener victory over the Missouri Valley College Junior Varsity by the final of 111-58 on Monday night.
The Scotties, 4-3 overall, led from start to finish, dominating every aspect of the game. Highland led 60-28 at halftime, out-rebounded the Vikings 64-28 for the game, and produced 28 Missouri Valley turnovers on the night.
Highland was paced by six Scotties in double figures. Sophomore De’Andre Upchurch (Flint, MI) led all scorers with 29 points. Sophomore Antonio Walker (Dublin, GA) and freshman Dave Jackson Jr. (Baton Rouge, LA) both registered double-doubles. Walker finished the game with 19 points and 13 rebounds while Jackson had 10 points and 11 boards. Sophomore Jarvis Benard (Nome, TX) had another strong showing for the Scotties with 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Sophomores Phil Henry (Marlton, NJ) and Roderick Camphor (Baltimore, MD) had 13 and 10 points respectively.
The Scotties next travel to Brown Mackie College in Salina on Wednesday, November 30 for a Region VI Division II contest. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
