Scottie Women Win 10th Straight

Highland jumped out to an early 10-1 lead against region foe Hesston and never looked back in winning their tenth regular season and third region game to go 10-0, 3-0.

The Scotties used full court pressure to create several double digit leads and maintained a 35-22 margin going into the half. The second half was much the same as Highland extended the lead past 35 at times and finished the game up74-44.  "We have to learn how to handle success and I thought we lost intensity several times. A sign of a good team is playing at the same level of intensity regardless of the score, and we are not there yet," stated head coach B.J. Smith.

The Scotties created 36 turnovers and Riley Bowser (Holton) led the team with eight steals. Kathy Thomas (Flint, MI), coming off a strong previous week when she was the Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week, led the team with 12 rebounds from the guard position. "We have to continue to get better.  We still make too many silly mistakes, but it is nice to learn from winning,” Smith Stated.

The Scotties received votes for the first time in the national poll this past week. They will return to action next week when they host region opponent Brown Mackie December 15.
