Scottie Women Still Undefeated

The Highland Community College women’s basketball team went into the Thanksgiving holiday with a 6-0 record after defeating Southwestern Iowa 99-37 in the friendly confines of Allen Field House. The Scotties forced 16 first half turnovers to go into the half with a 47-21 lead.

"We are seeing improvement every day and every game. With nothing but newcomers on our team, that is vital", stated head coach BJ Smith. Jaaron Kassanavoid (Lawson, MO) and Alison Cole (Long Island) both had double doubles, with Kassanavoid having 17 points and 11 rebounds and Cole with 12 points and 12 rebounds.  Kathy Thomas (Flint, MI) led the Scotties with 22 points and Janelle Sailing (Lathrop, MO) had 12.  "We had a number of players contribute who didn’t show up with big numbers, but players like Dani Lockhart (Marysville) who come in and give us great defense and solid play on the offensive end are invaluable,” stated Smith.

The Scotties will resume play when they face #11 ranked Brown Mackie November 30 in Salina.
