Scottie Harriers Compete at Nationals

 

The Highland Community College cross country teams competed over the weekend at the NJCAA Division I National Championship Meet held in Hobbs, New Mexico.

 

The Scottie men competed as a team and finished the meet with a 31st place finish out of a total of 39 teams with 810 team points. Highland was led by sophomore David Keach (Neodesha) with a 36th place finish in 27:57.97, just missing All-American status by one second. Freshman Tim Borger (Eudora) was the Scotties’ second runner with a time of 30:03.49, good for 169th place. Freshman Derek Wright (McLouth) ran well for the Scotties, finishing 202nd place in 30:42.17. Paradise Valley Community College was the team champions with 54 total points. Kemoy Campbell from South Plain College won the individual championship with a time of 25:22.08.

 

The Scottie women were represented by freshman Mary Kate Taylor (Chillicothe, MO) who finished in 103rd place with a time of 21:47.89. Iowa Central Community College won the team championship with 84 team points. Natoya Goule from South Plains College won the meet with a time of 18:45.16.
