On the morning of Friday, November 6th, Highland Community College President Deborah Fox was alerted of an alleged noose and rope hanging near the HCC campus. President Fox contacted authorities immediately and met with the property owners. The property owners indicated that the rope was used to hang a swing and the bottom part of the swing was removed and is currently being stored indoors for the winter. The Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call where the Deputy identified the rope as not a noose, but used to hang a swing. Campus students were notified of the issue Friday morning and ensured the students that it was not a noose. Alleged claims are taken very seriously as safety is our top priority at the College. As you can see, the two pictures are a comparison of the swing with and without the bottom half.
