Highland’s Terry Earns Football Honors

Sophomore running back Marquis Terry (Atlanta, GA) had quite the week receiving honors for his performance on the field against Iowa Central on Saturday.  Following Saturday’s game, Terry received the HCC Football Player of the Game award after being selected by the Scottie coaches. On Wednesday morning, Terry received the Highland Community College Athlete of the Week award, being selected by the HCC Athletic Staff.  Then on Wednesday afternoon, just to add to the stack, the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) selected Terry for Offensive Player of the Week.

Terry didn't just fall into these accomplishments; he proved to be one of the best on the field last Saturday. Highland defeated Iowa Central Community College 42-2 with the help of his strong and speedy running game. Terry rushed the ball 24 times for 158 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one reception that was good for a two point conversion.

Terry ranks first in the KJCCC in rushing touchdowns with six. He is also third in the KJCCC in rushing yards per game at 89.5. In four games, Terry has carried the ball 75 times for 358 yards and six touchdowns. He also has four receptions for 22 yards and one kick return for 25 yards.
