Highland Community College recently hosted the NJCAA Division I Region VI men’s heptathlon (seven events) and the women’s pentathlon (five events). The remainder of the Division I Region Championships were held on 15 February at University of Kansas.
Highland’s Holly Wilmarth, a freshman from Maryville, MO, finished 4th in the Conference in the pentathlon and 5th in the Region which will get her a spot in the top 16 to qualify for Nationals. She will also compete in the triple jump.
Mandy Wilson, a freshman from Rossville, won the Division I Region Championship and was 1st team All-Conference in the 600 meter run which qualified her for Nationals.
Hannah Olsen (FR, St. Joseph, MO) was 2nd team All-Conference in the mile. Crystal Hoard (FR, Randolph, MO) was All-Conference honorable mention in the mile. Jazmine Miller (FR, Richmond, MO) was All-Conference 2nd team in the 55 hurdles and a National qualifier.
The distance medley relay will go to Nationals; that team consists of Hannah Olsen, Mandy Wilson, Jazmine Miller, Crystal Hoard, and Kelsey Warren, a freshman from Berryton.
