The Highland Community College women’s basketball coaches will be conducting a free basketball clinic for area youth in grades 3 through 8, both boys and girls, on June 28 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the Walters Wellness Center on the Highland campus.
In the two years this coaching staff has been at Highland, the Scotties have been to the National Tournament both years. Head coach B. J. Smith has conducted hundreds of clinics, has coached at every level, and developed players who have played in the WNBA and Olympics. “We are going to pass these skills on those participating in this clinic.”
Participants will go through the skill drills Smith and assistant coach Jillian Palan conduct for the Scottie basketball team. These drills include passing, dribbling, shooting, ball handling, and defense. Those who have questions or would like additional information can call Smith at 573.587.4646.
