Bob Pugh, who completed his eligibility as a highly regarded wide receiver/punt and kick receiver for the Highland Community College football team last year, has made an immediate impact at the NCAA Division I level as he was named Newcomer of the Week in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, showing what he can do now at Indiana State University. Pugh wears number 4 for the Sycamores.
Pugh, a 5”11”, 190 pound junior from Foley, AL, missed last week’s game against Southeast Missouri State following the concussion protocol. So he came back with a vengeance versus Illinois State, which was then ranked number nine in the country, helping his Indiana State teammates pull off the major upset, 34-31. Pugh racked up almost 200 yard with his pass receptions – leading the Sycamores with 93 yards -- and another 64 yards on kick returns and 28 yards returning punts. Despite missing the SEMO game, Pugh currently ranks second in the Missouri Valley with nearly 155 all-purpose yards per game. He ranks fifth in the MVFC with 82 receiving yards.
