Highland Cross Country Men Run at Bob Timmons Classic

The Highland Community College men’s cross country team competed over the weekend at the Bob Timmons Classic held at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence with a real challenge on the 6,000 meter course that was wet and muddy.

The Scotties finished the meet with 96 total team points. The University of Kansas took the team title with 16 points. The Scotties were the only non-Division I school competing. Josh Baden of the University of Kansas won the meet with a time of 19:49.

The Scottie harriers were paced by freshman Seth Parres (O’Fallon, MO) with a 14th place finish in 21:15. Freshman Miguel Hernandez (Del Valle, TX) finished in 19th place with a time of 22:00, while fellow freshman Chris Babel (Hiawatha) placed 20th in 22:51. Freshman Brett Simhauser (Cuba, MO) was the Scotties’ fourth runner for the second straight week with a time of 23:02, good for 21st place. Sophomore Keith Edmonds (Easton) finished in 22nd place in 23:26.

The Scotties are on the road again next Friday, September 7, at the Northwest Missouri State University Invitational which begins at 6:00 p.m.
