Highland Business Club Elects Officers

Highland Community College Business Club installed their 2015-2016 officers on September 10   Professional Development class instructors Laura Young and Linda James announced and installed the officers. Ty Dick was sworn in as historian, Tyler Rogers as treasurer, Gabby Speer as secretary, Dannie Willis as vice president, and Lillian Clark as president of the Business Club.

Historian Ty Dick is from Rossville, son of Lisa Pelfrey and Rodney Dick, and is an Accounting major at HCC. Tyler Rogers, treasurer, is from Pomona, son of Karl and Trisha Rogers, and he is also an Accounting major. Both the historian and the treasurer are freshmen this year and will be graduating in 2017. Gabby Speer was nominated as secretary of the business club. She is from Wathena, daughter of Frank and Julie Speer, and is an Accounting major. The vice president position is held by Dannie Willis of Trimble.  She is the daughter of Jeremiah and Jennifer Timlick and Andrea and Eric Robertson. Dannie is majoring in Business Administration. The president of the Business Club is Lillian Clark from Seneca, Kansas.  Clark is the granddaughter of Mary Moeller and is majoring in Business Administration. Those three officers are sophomores this year and will be graduating in the spring of 2016.

The Business Club meets on the first Thursday of every month and does many activities throughout the academic year. They volunteer at local food centers, collect food for Thanksgiving hampers, visit business transfer programs at other universities and colleges, participate in industry tours and campus block parties, sell pecans, survival kits, and Red Wheel for fundraisers, host guest speakers, and each spring semester, they travel on a three day capstone business trip. This group is very excited for the upcoming school year and encourages all business students to join their organization.
