Eleanor Hensley, an Early Childhood Education instructor for Highland Community College, has been selected by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) as a member of the Kansas Advisory Committee for Career and Technical Education (KACCTE). In her appointment letter, it is noted that KSDE had many highly qualified candidates in Hensley’s Human Services career cluster, and she was determined to be the best representative. In her role with KACCTE, Hensley will be an advocate for and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for career and technical education in Kansas, an area that is receiving high attention and garnering increasing support in the state.
Hensley joins 21 other representatives of business, industry, government, and education from across the state to address the purpose of KACCTE to facilitate the development and promotion of a seamless system for the delivery of technical education between secondary and postsecondary education; integration of business and industry workforce development needs and trends in Kansas into a seamless career and technical education (CTE) system; program improvement in secondary CTE programs; and provide a business/industry perspective on what a student has to know and be able to do to be college and career ready.
Hensley has been an instructor at the College since 2002. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Emporia State University.
