Six area high schools will kick off their football season with the Kansas State High School Athletic Association (KSHSAA) Jamboree on Friday, August 26 at 6:30 PM.

Athletes from Doniphan West, Frankfort, Maranatha, Troy, Riverside, and Rossville will meet on Kessinger Field at Highland Community College to scrimmage.

“We are always excited to host our area schools at Highland Community College.  The jamboree is a very special atmosphere for the student athletes, coaches, parents and fans as it signifies the start of the Kansas High School football season! It’s a great way for our Doniphan County schools to get reps against other schools and to sharpen their game plans before the first game,” said Dr. Bryan Dorrel, HCC Athletic Director.

A preseason Jamboree is an opportunity for member high schools to participate in a controlled scrimmage. Each school has the opportunity to run 36 offensive plays. Teams will run eight offensive plays at a time and then rotate opponents. For safety purposes, no tackling with take place instead, defensive players will wrap up their opponent without forcing them to the ground. The 11-man teams will be on one end of the field, and the eight-man teams will be on the other end.
