Davis Concert Photos to be Displayed at HCC Klinefelter Barn

The HCC Klinefelter Farm “Arts at the Barn” series will host a photography show by Dave Davis of Falls City.  Many people recognize Davis as the “photo guy” at Hiawatha Walmart.  An artist’s reception will be held at the Klinefelter Barn Conference Center from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on October 9.  The photo show will feature close-up shots of well- known musicians from many genres of music including country, rock, folk, blues, and heavy metal.  Recently, Davis received an on-stage pass for a Boston concert and was able to be on stage with the band for three songs, followed by a front row VIP seat for the remainder of the concert.

Davis, a photography graduate of Midland Lutheran College, said, “I have been shooting concerts for 35 years and taking pictures for 50 years. I would estimate that I have photographed 500 concerts to date.  I am from a family of artists, and we all have our specialty. I chose photography because it's less messy than paints.

What motivates me in concert photography is to get “THE” picture, the one that wows people when they look at it. You have to get the settings right, the angle right, and the lighting right. But you have to anticipate when things are going to line up for a great shot, kind of like a sporting event.”

The show will be on display at the Klinefelter Barn for the following week through October 16, and those who cannot attend the reception on the 9th may view the photos by appointment during weekday working hours by calling Wendell Ganstrom at 785-741-2829 or Lindsey Koch at 785-336-1274.  No admission will be charged.  Free will donations to support the “Arts at the Barn” cultural series are greatly appreciated.

The Klinefelter Barn Conference Center is located at 1774 230th St., Hiawatha, KS.  Take the Mulberry Rd. exit off US 36 Highway, two miles east of Hiawatha and go east on 230th for 2/3 mile to the farm entrances.  Either driveway leads to the Klinefelter Barn.

The “Arts at the Barn” cultural series is made possible by our event underwriters: Hiawatha Community Hospital, Rainbow Communications, KNZA Radio, Dr. Dennis Myers of Troy, D Lazy K Ranch and LK Creations of Seneca, Collins Law Office in Highland, Dr. Cheryl Rasmussen, and the Forsberg Family.
