The women’s track and field team competed at the Region VI meet at Kansas State University on February 19. Leading the team were Sammy Meisenheimer (Baldwin City), Mary Kate Taylor (Chillicothe, MO), and Cassie Waggoner (Horton). Taylor ran a career best time in the 5,000 meter at 19:32.67, bettering her previous 19:55.00. That time placed her third in the Conference as an Honorable Mention All Conference, and third in the Region. Meisenheimer had career bests in both the long jump and 200 meter, placing fourth in the Conference in the long jump and seventh in the 200. Waggoner placed second in the Conference, earning All Conference second team honors, and third in the Region at 5’3”.
Overall, the team finished 6th in the Conference and 12th in the Region. Next up for the ladies is the National Meet at Eastern Illinois University on March 2-3.
