Three Highland Softball Players Sign with Emporia State
Fresh off their return to the NJCAA National Softball Tournament, three Highland Community College softball players have signed to continue their athletic and academic careers with Emporia State University under Coach April Huddleston.
McKenna Davis, an outfielder from Olathe, was a First-Team All-Jayhawk pick her freshman year before an injury slowed her sophomore year. She was still able to manage a .375 batting average in 24 games played.
Katy Rae Nordman hails from Augusta. She played third base for Highland, with a .386 batting average with nine home runs, 53 RBIs, and 12 doubles in her sophomore year. Nordman was selected as First-Team All-Jayhawk Conference her sophomore year.
Annie Rockley is an outfielder from Independence, MO. She was an Honorable Mention All-Jayhawk selection as a sophomore with a .330 batting average and hit two home runs for the Scotties.
The 2016 season was a successful one under Highland Head Coach Heidi Jordan. The Scotties returned to the National Tournament after a one year absence after winning the NJCAA Region VI, Division II, District E Championship. The Scotties also dominated the Jayhawk Conference selections with eight players selected on the First Team. In addition to the selections, Jordan was selected as Coach of the year.
