Scotties Split with Johnson County Again

Highland Community College scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to win game two 7-6 over Johnson County after the Cavaliers scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning in game one to take a 6-5 win over the Scotties.

In game one, Johnson County held a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Scotties got an RBI double by Alex Head (Topeka) followed by a two run double by Joe Mancuso (Papillion, NE) to take a 5-4 lead.  Scottie reliever Taylor Hendrick (Springfield, MO) retired the first two batters in the seventh inning.   After a two out single put a runner at first, the Scotties made a big two base error, putting the tying and go ahead runs at second and third.  The Cavaliers took advantage of the miscue as the next hitter lined a double into right center field to plate both runners, giving Johnson County a 6-5 win.

In game two, Jesse Richel’s (Morris, OK) two run double in the sixth inning and two run walk off single in the bottom of the seventh inning rallied Highland to a 7-6 win.  Johnson County scored five runs in the second inning and one run in the sixth inning giving them a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, setting the stage for Richel’s two bases loaded hits.  Tyler Goldsberry (Omaha, NE), Craig Hill (Morris, OK), Andrew Standish (Millard, NE), and Joe Mancuso (Papillion, NE) all had two hits for the Scotties.
