Two players from the Highland Community Collegewomen's team have been named to the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference 2013-14 Basketball All-Conference Team. Named to the Eastern Division II women’s team were Julia Alves and Ashley Torres. Ryann Bowser and Krystal Cohrn were named Honorable Mention. The players were nominated by their coaches and then voted on by opposing coaches, who did not vote for their own players.
Alves is a 6’1” sophomore forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil and Torres a 5’8” sophomore guard from Morovis, Puerto Rico. A 5’9” sophomore guard, Bowser is from Holton. From Topeka, Cohrn is a 5’5” sophomore guard.
The Scotties are in action in the NJCAA Region VI Division II Tournament this week. A win on Tuesday evening will take them to the finals at Koch Arena on Saturday, March 8, for a 1:00 tipoff. The women are coached by B.J. Smith.
