The Highland Community College women’s cross country team opened their season with a strong showing at the Baker University Maple Leaf Invitational Meet on Saturday in Baldwin City.
The Scotties finished fourth in the team standings with 96 points. Host Baker University won the meet with 42 total team points. Lauren Jaqua of Baker was the individual champion with a time of 15:07.4.
Highland was paced by sophomore Mary Kate Taylor (Chillicothe, MO) with a fourth place finish in 15:53.88. Freshman Hannah Olson (St. Joseph, MO) got off to a strong start to her Scottie career with an eighth place finish in 16:07.31. Freshmen Crystal Hoard (Randolph) and Mandy Wilson (Auburn) finished the meet in 23rd and 31st places respectively. The final scorer for the Scotties was freshman Raquel Dungey (Independence).
The Scotties are on the road again next Friday, September 7 at the Northwest Missouri State University Invitational. Meet begins at 6:00 p.m.
