Under the direction of first year head coach Jon Bingesser, the Highland Community College volleyball team showed dramatic improvements and completed a very successful 2015 season. On the season, the Scotties posted a 19-13 record and went an impressive 10-3 at home. With that record, Highland qualified for the Region VI District Tournament where the Scotties upset conference rival Fort Scott in the first round before falling in the championship match to Johnson County.
“I am very pleased with how the season went, but it is only the beginning,” said Bingesser. “We finished exactly where we needed to, and I am liking the direction that we are heading.” Bingesser went on the say how proud he was of the women and the effort they put forth this season. “This team now realize what the expectations of Highland volleyball are and we are more than looking forward to the 2016 season.” Bingesser and his assistant, Alex Petock, will have eight returning players next year and have been on the recruiting trail seeking the next set of members to the team.
