Highland’s Wilgers Qualifies for Nationals
The Highland Community College women’s track team traveled to Emporia State on March 29 for the ESU spring open. Krista Wilgers (Palmer), in her first college outdoor meet, qualified for Nationals in the javelin with a throw of 37.29 meters (122' 4"). Wilgers is following in the steps of her sister Miranda who was an NJCAA All American, National medalist, and currently holds the HCC record in the javelin. Wilgers will be joining two teammates – Jazmine Miller (Highland) and Mandy Wilson (Auburn) -- who qualified in running events at an earlier meet and will be traveling to Mesa, Arizona in May for the NJCAA National Meet.
