After learning he was named the Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week, Highland Community College sophomore guard De’Andre Upchurch (Flint, MI) found out he is also the NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week.
.Upchurch led the Scotties to a pair of wins, at home over Johnson County by the final of 71-66 and on the road against Independence by the count of 87-84, to open conference play. Against Johnson County, he had 24 points, three rebounds, and two assists. At Independence, Upchurch led all scorers with 27 points, including hitting six of nine three-point attempts.
The Scotties are 8-5 overall and 2-0 in Jayhawk Eastern Conference play. They next host Kansas City Kansas Community College on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Allen Field House.
