After an already recording-setting career at Highland Community College, Kyelah Hodges added yet another accolade to the list as she earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 'National Athlete of the Week' honors.
The sophomore from Monticello, Arkansas, helped lead her team to a 1st place finish and the fastest time in the nation in the 4x800 Meter Relay at the KJCCC/Region VI Championships two weeks ago and finished 3rd in the 800 Meter. Last week, Hodges ran in the Spire Twilight and took 1st place in the 400 Meter dash with a time of 55.88, breaking the old Highland record of 56.11 set in 1996 by Anita Lacy.
Hodges is now preparing for the NJCAA Outdoor Nationals coming up May 18-20. Hodges is set to compete in the 4x800 Relay, 800 Meter, 4x400 Relay, and will be an alternate on the 4x100 Relay.
